This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Units of Study
The CHC33021 comprises of 15 units. 9 (nine) Core Units and 6 (six) Elective Units have been specifically chosen for the disability specialisation of CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support. The course delivers training to students with particular focus on working in range of general individualised support settings. Patients typically require a low level of support from care workers.

Entry Requirements

All learners must be at least 18 years of age.

All learners must complete a language, literacy and numeracy skills assessment at time of enrolment, or alternatively provide a copy of a Certificate or Statement of Attainment for a Certificate IV qualification or higher or equivalent.

All learners must be able to show a genuine interest to work in the disabilities sector
Placement Requirements
Learners must meet the following requirements prior to commencing work placement:

Undergo or provide evidence of required vaccinations / immunisations

Complete a Police Check or NDIS Clearance Certificate (preferred)

Provide evidence of a valid Australian driver’s license
-
Provide evidence of rights to work in Australia

Complete a Working with Children’s Check

Provide evidence of a valid First Aid Certificate (completed as part of the course with Train2Care)

Show interest/desire to work in the community sector
Assessment
This course will have you undertake summative and formative assessments, write reports and/or create a portfolio, and participate in role-playing scenarios. You'll also be working on a variety of projects that require your own research as well as answering various written/oral questions that apply the theory you learn into practice.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer (CT) provided that you have supporting evidence of any prior education and work experience. This can either reduce your study load or shorten the duration of your course. Prior to enrolment, please speak with us for further details.
After enrolment, you can request an RPL/CT form from Student Support. A trainer will be assigned to assess your eligibility for RPT and/or CT.
Mode of Delivery
Blended. Online real time theory tutorials with on campus skills training in a simulated environment + e-learning assessments. The course is provided through Blended mode of delivery. It will be delivered over 1280 hours including theory, self-paced structured e-learning, face to face workshops and a minimum 120 hours of work-based training/ professional experience placement (PEP).
Course Journey

Learners will undergo Student Orientation prior to commencement with Train2Care

Up to 80 contact hours will be delivered face to face via in-house workshops to develop essential skills and knowledge for future carers

7 hours structured and recorded theory will be delivered by a trainer and assessor each week, accessible online

Up to 7 hours of structured e-learning will be recommended to students each week
-
3 hours of e-learning assessment time is recommended each week
